Life does not move in straight lines. It circles back — to the same fears, the same loves, the same questions — but never from the same place. Each return carries the weight and the wisdom of everything that came before.

The spiral is the oldest map of a human life.

We recognize it in the way grief revisits us years after we thought we had let go. In the way a childhood wound resurfaces in an adult relationship. In the way a truth we understood once must be understood again, deeper, at a different age. We are not going in circles. We are ascending — though from inside the movement, it can be impossible to tell.

Life holds this. The same origin, the same gesture, the same return. And yet something has shifted. The path is wider. The center is the same but the circumference has grown. What looked like repetition was always evolution in disguise.

There is courage in the return. It takes more strength to come back to a place you already know — knowing it will hurt again, knowing it will ask something of you again — than to simply move forward and never look back. The spiral does not let us avoid. It invites us to meet ourselves again, at a new altitude.

We dissolve. We begin again. We are not the same.
